Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important official stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
