Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group reach places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
